Srinagar: Job aspirants having applied for different posts advertised last year by Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura staged a protest here Thursday against what they said was ‘arbitrary’ withdrawal of at least 66 posts by the management recently.

Holding placards in their hands which read “Revoke decision, we want justice”, aggrieved aspirants amid sloganeering gathered at Press Enclave here this afternoon and staged a protest to press for revocation of the withdrawal order.

They said SKIMS had advertised 183 different posts in June last year which include those of Account Assistants, Lift Mechanics, Technicians Medical Group, Stewards and others of which 66 posts were withdrawn past week leaving hundreds of aspirants in shock.

“Hundreds of educated youth like us had applied for these posts and were preparing for exams but we were shocked to know that 66 posts stand withdrawn permanently by the SKIMS management recently,” Gowhar Hussain, a job aspirant said.

The aspirants appealed to the LG administration to look into the issue and seek explanation from SKIMS management for arbitrary withdrawal of 66 different posts one year after their advertisement.

“Our one year was wasted, we did not apply for jobs anywhere else as we were busy preparing for exams for these posts. Why did they waste our time if posts had to be withdrawn? We appeal to the administration to seek explanation from SKIMS administration for arbitrary withdrawal of 66 posts,” Tauseef Ahmad, another protester said.
