J&K records 599 fresh COVID-19 cases, nine more deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 599 fresh cases of COVID-19, taking the infection tally to 3,08,011, while nine more deaths pushed the toll to 4,195, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 438 were from the Kashmir Valley and 161 were from the Jammu division, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 161 cases, followed by 62 in Kupwara district.

The death toll due to the disease rose to 4,195 as nine patients – five from Kashmir Valley and four from Jammu division — died in the past 24 hours, the officials said.

They said during this period, 2139 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals, including 1410 from Kashmir and 729 from Jammu division.

Meanwhile, the officials said there were 20 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory as one fresh case was reported since Sunday evening.

They also informed that so far 76.47 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,08,011 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 13,532 are active positive cases across J&K,  while so far 2,90,284 persons have recovered and 4,195 have died — 2154 in Kashmir and 2041 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 92,14,386 test results available so far, 89,06,375 samples have tested as negative till 14th June, 2021.

Till date 22,44,233 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 59,714 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 13,532 in isolation and 1,51,511 in home surveillance while 20,15,281 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
