J&K records 866 fresh COVID-19 cases, 14 more deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 866 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the infection tally to 3,06,638 on Saturday, while 14 deaths took the toll to 4,174, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 601 were from the Kashmir Valley and 265 were from the Jammu division of the Union Territory, they said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest of 164 cases, followed by 71 each in Budgam and Pulwama districts.

The death toll due to the disease rose to 4,174 as 14 patients – eight from Jammu division and six from Kashmir Valley — died in the past 24 hours, officials said.

They also said 2153 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have discharged from various hospitals including during this period. This includes 1446 people from Kashmir and 707 from Jammu division.

Meanwhile, the officials said there were 19 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) and one fresh case was reported since last evening.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,06,638 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 16,284 active positive cases across J&K, while 2,86,180  persons have recovered and 4174 have died – 2144 in Kashmir and 2030 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 91,29,947 test results available, 88,23,309 samples have been tested as negative till 12th June, 2021.

Till date 22,25,407 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 65,797 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 16,284 in isolation and 1,35,517 in home surveillance while 20,03,635 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
