Soldier dies in ‘accidental fire’ in Baramulla

Srinagar: An army soldier from south Kashmir’s Anantnag district was killed when his service weapon reportedly went off accidentally at his place of posting at Uplona Baramulla in north Kashmir, officials said on Thursday.

News agency GNS quoting the officials reported that Sepoy Muneer Ahmad Ganie (13780067W), son of Mohammad Ramzan of Larikpora Anantnag, was injured after his service weapon went off accidentally while he was cleaning it at the 52 RR camp where he was posted.

Muneer later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital as per officials.

They said his body was brought to PCR Hospital Srinagar for medical formalities.
