‘Anti-terrorism day’: ‘Terrorism activities’ in J&K coming down, says DGP

Srinagar: Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh today led the officers and officials in observing the National Anti-Terrorism Day across Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the police spokesperson, the ADGP Headquarters PHQ J&K M.K Sinha administered the pledge to the officers and personnel at Police Headquarters Jammu and ADGP (Coordination) PHQ Danesh Rana administered pledge at PHQ, Srinagar.

“The Impressive functions were organised observing COVID-19 protocols, and  all preventive measures like maintaining social distance and wearing of masks in the respective districts/units and offices. The officers and officials of JK police took the pledge to continue their fight against the terrorism,” the spokesperson said.

“While speaking on the occasion, the DGP said that many parts of the world are affected with different forms of terrorism and at every international forum efforts are being made to address this global threat to peace and security. He said that our country in one or another way has been victim of terrorism and added that police and other security forces have been fighting against it and will continue to do so to protect the interests of our country. He said that this is an important occasion for all of us where we are re-dedicating ourselves in the war against terror,” he said.

“Singh said that J&K Police is on the forefront against the terrorism since last more than three decades. He said “our hundreds of officers and cops have sacrificed their lives in protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. J&K Police will continue to fight the menace to maintain the peaceful environment of Jammu and Kashmir. He paid rich tributes to the brave hearts of the J&K police who sacrificed their lives while protecting the interests of the people and the country,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson further said: “The DGP said that observing Anti-Terrorism Day is to spread the message of peace, humanity, unity, and harmony among the people, and to make them aware of the anti-social acts of terrorism.”

“Speaking to the media after the ceremony, the DGP said the anti terrorism day has been observed in all Districts, unit and wing headquarters and added that the central function was organised at PHQ, Jammu. He appealed the youth to contribute in national security and added that it is responsibility of every citizen to stand against the menace of terrorism and contribute in strengthening the peace in the country. He said that terrorism activities in Jammu and Kashmir are currently coming down and our efforts will continue to bring it down further,” the spokesperson said.

“He thanked the doctors, health workers and other frontline worries for working day in and day out and protects the people from the deadly virus. He said that it is very critical time and people must follow the health protocol and government advisories to restrict the spread of COVID-19,” he said

“ADGP, Jammu, Mukesh Singh, ADGP Headquarters PHQ, M.K Sinha, DIG, JSK, Range Atul Goel, AIsG of PHQ Rahul Malik, Ramesh Angral, Rajinder Gupta, Commandants of Jammu based battalion and other senior officers and officials of PHQ and APHQ, Jammu were present at the pledge taking ceremony at Jammu. At PHQ, Srinagar, ADGP Coordination Danesh Rana administered anti terrorism pledge to officers and personnel of PHQ and JKAP 13th Bn. IGP CIV, PHQ, Alok Kumar, IGP, Headquarters PHQ, Garib Dass, DPT, J&K Mushtaq Ahmad, AIsG of PHQ, Rajesh Bali, Manoj Kumar, Commandant of IRP 13th Bn Shamsheer Hussain were present,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorism Day was observed at all district Police headquarters, Armed battalions, Railway Police Headquarter Jammu, Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy and other training institutions of Jammu and Kashmir Police. The supervisory and controlling officers led their subordinates by reading out the pledge.
