Bandipora: Renowned Islamic scholar and jurist Mufti Nazir Ahmad Qasmi on Monday said that the vaccination against Covid-19 is compulsory and that all the people of Kashmir must take a jab — sooner the better.

Local news agency KNO quoted the Islamic scholar as saying that it is important during this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic crisis that every Muslim in Kashmir gets vaccinated. He said everyone must come forward for it and should not pay heed to rumours whatsoever regarding it.

“People should not be afraid of it as it is ‘halal’ (permissible) for the Muslims, and I urge all the people of Kashmir that it is very important for us to be careful in order to prevent further spread of the virus,” he said.

“It’s ok to get a job even if a person is fasting; taking a vaccine jab won’t break fast, but instead help prevent the spread of the virus,” he said

“We should not panic over the Covid-19 disease. We simply have to be more careful about our behavior so that we do not contract this disease,” he added.

He said that elderly people, and those suffering from any disease should offer prayers at their homes. “In the mosques too, we have to understand that any sort of mismanagement will lead to closure of players in mosques as we have seen happen earlier.”

He also said that people who believe that everything lies in the hands of God and do not follow any safety measure are not on the right path.

“People should obey strictly every direction and advice of the administration and the medical professionals,” he said.

Mufti Nazir also appealed to Mohalla Masjid Committees adhere to the use of wearing face masks and maintaining proper distance and follow other guidelines during the prayers in the mosques. (KNO)
