SPO kills senior colleague In Udhampur

Jammu: A police constable was killed after allegedly fired upon by a colleague (SPO) in Udhampur district of Jammu on Sunday, officials said.

In a rare fratricidal incident, the SPO identified as Manohar Lal fired with his Ak-47 rifle at senior grade constable Kaka Ram in Udhampur market at around 2250 hours last night, they said.

The injured was shifted to district hospital from where he was shifted to army hospital Udhampur where he died, the officials said. “The reasons are a matter of investigation,” they said. However, a police officer said that there was some altercation which led to the incident.

Station House Officer Udhampur said that a case has been registered in connection with the incident. Postmortem is being conducted, he added.
