Of the new cases, 169 were from the Kashmir Valley and 41 were from the Jammu division, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 98 new cases, including 41 travellers, followed by 33 in Baramulla district and 30 in Jammu district.

Four districts did not report any fresh case, while 12 others detected new cases in single digits.

The number of active cases now stands at 1,681 in the union territory, while 1,25,748 patients have recovered so far, the officials said.

Officials also said that one person from Kashmir Valley died due to the virus, taking the fatality count to 1984 — 732 in Jammu and 1252 in the Valley.

Pertinently, the 210 fresh cases today is the sharpest single-day spike in number of Covid-19 cases this year.  While it is for the first time that 200 cases were reported in a single day, it was also for the tenth consecutive day that more than a hundred cases were recorded in the J&K.
