Valediction of 32nd National Road Safety Month-2021 held across Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Series of activities with respect to road safety marked the culmination of National Road Safety Month-2021 themed ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha’ in Kashmir.

On the occasion, valediction functions were held across all the districts of Kashmir division to observe the conclusion of the month-long awareness drive that was kick-started on 18 January, 2021.

During this period, a number of activities including debates, quiz, essay and painting competitions, distribution of pamphlets and print material,   blood donation camps, fitness melas, walkathon, rallies to raise mass awareness among the drivers and the public about road safety norms besides health check up camps were conducted by the Regional Transport Authority Kashmir and Assistant Regional Transport Offices of all the districts.

Also, the live streaming of Lt Governor’s speech was telecasted by the district administrations during the function.

In Srinagar, a programme was organised by Regional Transport Office to mark the valediction of the National Road Safety Month at Parimpora, here.

During the programme, participants highlighted the measures to be taken to avoid road accidents and discourage juveniles to drive motor vehicles. They suggested that it is the social responsibility of every individual to save precious lives.

Speaking on the occasion, ARTO, Kashmir, Akramullah Tak stressed on the continuation of awareness campaigns at different levels to educate masses regarding observance of traffic rules and regulations while plying vehicles.

Meanwhile, ARTO Kashmir distributed mementos and certificates among the students who participated in essay and painting competitions organized by the department. Certificates were also distributed among the Transport Associations for their participation in various activities conducted by the department.

Among others present on the occasion were officers of the transport department, transporters and students.
