Two firemen, civilian injured during fire incident in Srinagar locality

Srinagar: Two Fire & Emergency Service (F&ES) personnel and a civilian were injured during a firefighting operation in Watal Kadal locality of Srinagar on Sunday, reports said.

Quoting officials, news agency GNS reported that a massive fire erupted in a residential house in Watal Kadal locality today afternoon.

They said that a civilian, identified as Shabir Ahmad, and two firemen –Firdous Ahmad from Sopore and Bashir Ahmad from Tral were injured during the firefighting operation and were shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment.

The reports said that two more residential houses also suffered damage in the fire incident.

Earlier, Sunday morning, fire broke out in the residential house at Malbab Sahab locality of Nawa Kadal and later engulfed two other residential houses as well.

Officials said it took several hours for the fire-tenders to douse the flames. Locals also appreciated the firemen for their role.

“It is a very dense area and the firemen did a great job in restricting the inferno to a few houses only,” locals said.
