Khelo India National Winter Games arrangements finalised at gulmarg: WGAJK

Srinagar: In order to finalize the arrangements for holding Junior National Ski and Snowboarding Championship and 2nd Khelo India National Winter Games, a broad based technical meeting was held here at Gulmarg on Friday. The meeting was convened by the Winter Games Association of J&K separately with many tourism players, senior ski guides, international athletes, Principal Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports and Dy.  Commandant High Altitude Warfare School.

In first meeting with Tourism players,Arif Mohammad Khan, Mehmood Ahmad Lone, FarhadNaik, Javed Ahmad Rershi, Manzoor Ahmad Lone and Arif Ahmad from Snowmobile Association, Showkat Ahmad Rather from Right Hand Ski Teachers Association, MushtaqAhamd Khan,  Gh. Hassan Bhat, were present.

From WGAJK Mohamad Abass and Muhamad Yusuf attended this important meeting. The members present in the meeting assured that full cooperation would be extended to WGAJK to make its endeavor a grand success. They also assured that different demonstration events like skibob, snow derby and snowmobile etc races would be arranged on the inaugural function of the Games. The members expressed their grievances that the Sports Council did not issue them the participation certificates of 1st Khelo India which caused them the anguish. In the meeting a think tank of all the local tourism associations was constituted that will give their valuable suggestion and feedback to the Khelo India Organizers so that the Games are conducted smoothly and successfully.

The meeting expressed its gratitude to Sports Ministry for allocating a handsome grants for purchase of ski equipment. Arif Khan, International player stressed that the Sports Council should allow WGAJK to hold special coaching camp for the Senior and Junior selected players before they take part in the upcoming games.

Later the WGAJK held exclusive meetings with Deputy Commandant HAWS and Principal JIM&WS. Both the organizations assured their full help.
