Two schools sealed for violating Covid-SOPs in Budgam

Budgam: December: Two schools were, today, sealed for allegedly violating Covid SOP’s, in the central Kashmir’s Budgam district, reports reaching here said.  Authority sealed two private schools and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on each of the institutions in Budgam, for conducting regular classes without observing any Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of Covid-19.

A news agency, KNB, informed that an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Mirza stated that Peace School Nagam and SQM Islamic School Namtehal were found conducting normal class work without observing the mandatory SOPs to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

It stated, “Whereas the act of school administration may have serious ramifications, as Covid-19 infection has not been controlled and Government has strictly directed that normal school work shall not been resolved as the young kids are of the vulnerable group”, adding that in order to safeguard the precious lives and as a preventive measures, it is necessary to close the said establishment to prevent the spread of disease.

The news agency further said that the District Magistrate Budgam, under sections 144 of CrPc and 34 of the National Disaster Management Act of 1897, ordered the closure of the two institutions till further orders and also imposed the fine of Rs 30,000 on each, for violating the guidelines of the government.

The order further directed the Tehsildar and Station House Officer Chadoora to immediately seal the school premises and file the compliance report in this regard.
