Army renovates Sadr Moji Ziyarat at Qaimoh

Srinagar: Renovation of the holy and pristine Sadr Moji Ziyarat at Qaimoh, Kulgam was carried out under the aegis of 1 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, a defence spokesman said in a statement issued today.

He said that Maj Gen Rashim Bali, GOC Victor Force dedicated the renovated Ziyarat to the local people of Kashmir Valley, in a mega event organised on 02 Dec 2020 in the Zayarat premises.

Sadr Moji Ziyarat is one of the oldest and sacrosanct shrines in Kashmir, dedicated to parents of Kashmiri Sufi saint Nund Rishi. It has tremendous religious significance in the cultural heritage of Kashmir and is considered as one of the holiest places of Muslims in the Valley, said the spokesman.

The work carried out by the Army included renovation of the Makphil and also painting, decoration and illumination of the Ziyarat, he said.

“This renovation work was an effort by 1 Sector Rashtriya Rifles to pay tribute to the most authentic and ethnic Sufi culture being practiced by local people and thereby facilitating manifestation of Islamic Sufism in the Kashmir Valley,” said the spokesman.

He said that villagers, in particular elders were highly vocal in praising the noble effort of the Indian Army and also affirmed that such initiatives will go a long way in restoration of peace and tranquility in the Kashmir Valley.
