Says Omar Abdullah's involvement not good for PAGD

Srinagar Nov 16: Nazir Ahmad Khan, the People’s Democratic Party district president Budgam filed nomination as an independent candidate for the forthcoming DDC elections today.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that he was not against the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), but Omar Abdullah, who he said is not good for the alliance.

“I was given authority letter issued by PAGD for filling up nomination papers but at the eleventh hour I was replaced with a National Conference candidate,” local news agency KNS quoted Khan as saying.

On being asked how he would explain his decision of going against the PAGD decision, Khan said “I don’t think I have committed any mistake; I respect PAGD, but it all has happened because Omar Abdullah personally sees me as his rival in Beerwah.”

Khan said he (Omar) has used the PAGD “to nominate a dummy candidate to replace me.”
