8 person die of COVID-19 in J&K; 626 fresh cases reported

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 626 new COVID-19 cases and eight fatalities due to the disease in the past 24 hours, taking the infection tally to 1,01,594 and the death toll to 1,574, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 429 cases were reported from the Kashmir Valley and 197 were from the Jammu division, they said.

The officials said Baramulla district recorded a maximum of 158 fresh COVID-19 cases, followed by 157 in Srinagar.

There are 5,645 active cases in the Union Territory, while 94,375 patients have recovered from the infection so far, they said.

Jammu division and Kashmir Valley recorded four deaths each linked to the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the officials said.

Providing district-wise breakup, the officials said that Srinagar has 21154 positive cases (including 157 cases reported today) with 1539 Active Positive, 19226 recovered (including 114 cases recovered today), 389 deaths; Baramulla has 6814 positive cases (including 158 cases reported today) with 746 Active Positive, 5913 recovered (including 112 cases recovered today), 155 deaths; Budgam reported 6409 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 319 active positive cases, 5995 recovered (including 29cases recovered today), 95 deaths; Pulwama has 4832 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 126 Active Positive, 4622 recoveries (including 21 cases recovered today), 84 deaths; Kupwara has 4779 positive cases (including 23 cases reported today) with 446Active Positive, 4256 recovered (including 27 cases recovered today) and 77 deaths; Anantnag district has 4406 positive cases (including 13 cases reported today) with 226 Active Positive, 4105 recovered (including 05 cases recovered today), 75 deaths;  Bandipora has 4216 positive cases (including 12 cases reported today) with 172 Active Positive and 3996 recoveries(including 13 cases recovered today), 48 deaths; Ganderbal has 3896 positive cases (including 27 cases reported today) with 308 Active Positive, 3552 recoveries (including 27 cases recovered today), 36 deaths; Kulgam has 2543 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today) with 81 Active Positive, 2414 recovered (including 09 cases recovered today), 48 deaths and Shopian has 2273 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 88 active positive cases, 2149 recoveries (including 07 cases recovered today)and 36 deaths.

In Jammu division, officials said, Jammu district has 18844 positive cases (including 95 cases reported today) with 608 active positive cases, 17960 recoveries (including 100 cases recovered today), 276 deaths; Rajouri has 3301 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 97 active positive cases, 3156 recovered (including 06 cases recovered today), 48 deaths; Udhampur has 2960 positive cases (including 18 cases reported today) with 227 active positive, 2698 recoveries (including 12 cases recovered today) and 35 deaths; Doda has 2780 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 107 Active positive, 2623 recovered (including 16 cases recovered today), 50 deaths; Kathua has 2578 positive cases (including 11 cases reported today) with 72 active positive cases, 2473 recovered (including 10 cases recovered today) and 33 deaths; Poonch has 2335 positive cases (including 07 cases reported today) with 80 Active Positive, 2233 recoveries (including 03 cases recovered today)and 22 deaths; Samba has 2254 positive cases (including 07 cases reported today) with 80 active positive cases, 2149 recoveries and 25 deaths; Kishtwar has 2136 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 159 active positive, 1961 recoveries and 16 deaths; Ramban has 1727 positive cases (including 12 cases reported today) with 82 active positive, 1627 recoveries (including 40 cases recovered today)and 18 deaths while Reasi has 1357 positive cases (including 07  cases reported today) with 82 active positive cases, 1267 recoveries  and 08 deaths.
