‘My Town My Pride’; Secy RDD holds interactive session at Budgam

Meets scores of deputations, individuals

BUDGAM : Secretary Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, today convened an interactive session at Bihisti Zehra Park Budgam under the ambit of ambitious ‘My Town My Pride’ program being held across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The day long interaction session cum public grievances redressal camp was attended by people of Budgam town and all Chairman and Vice Chairman besides Councilors of Municipal Council Budgam.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary said that aim and objective of this unique programme is to rejuvenate our towns besides have a public outreach in towns for strengthening urban local self governance and ensuring an accountable and a more responsive dispensation to urbanites at their doorsteps. She said it is imperative that we all adopt the similar approach as was applied during B2V3 in My Town My Pride programme for achieving the desired results under this ambitious project. She said that people are seeing a ray of hope in such initiatives launched by the present governments and it becomes prime concern of all stakeholders to come up to their expectations without any failure.

She soght a detailed appraisal of grievances and demands of public relating to basic amenities like drinking water, power supply, improvement cum macadamisation of roads, construction  of slaughter  house in Budgam town, improvement of drains and lanes, construction of Public Convenience in parks, construction of adequate toilet facilities at all public  locations.

Meanwhile, Secretary also interacted with several deputations and individuals and took stock of their issues and concerns in presence of all concerned officers of district administration.

Secretary addressed several issues on the spot and assured to take up rest of the matters with the concerned authorities.

Secretary also distributed sanction letters and cheques among beneficiaries sponsored by Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare etc through J&K Bank.

Later, Secretary visited the stalls put up by various departments depicting their schemes especially micro income generating units through pamphlets.

She also witnessed a T 10 cricket match organized by Wheel Chair Cricket Association for handicap youth representing districts of Srinagar, Budgam and Anantnag.
