Body of minor boy fished out from NHPC Dam in Boniyar

Baramulla: After four days regrious rescue and search operation by State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police, body of minor boy who drowned while taking bath in river Jehlum was fished out from NHPC Dam Boniyar.

The deceased 12-year-old boy,identified  as Shahid Ahmad son of Late Noor Mohammad, a resident Khudalan locality of Nowshehra in Uri, drowned in river Jhelum while taking a bath in Boniyar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday afternoon.t

Station House Officer SHO Boniyar Tariq Ahmad Shah that the minor boy drowned while a taking a bath and his friends informed the passerby. “A few local youth jumped into the river to rescue the boy but couldn’t spot him,” the official said.

He said that police also reached to the spot and have launched a search operation to trace the boy.

Later, a team from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police pressed motor boats and divers to trace the body  but the body couldn’t be traced out from the river but today  it was spoted near NHPC  Dam Boniyar gate, he informed.

“A team SDRF and Police  fishes out the body from the water,”SHO Shah added.
