Gunfight breaks out in south Kashmir’s Pulwama village

Pulwama: A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Babhara area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

This is the second encounter since morning. Earlier, an encounter started at Pattan area of north Kashmir where one unidentified militant was killed and army major besides SoG personnel were injured while the gunfight is still on.

About Pulwama encounter, an official told News agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a joint team of Police, army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint teams of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants.

As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area—(KNO)
