Irfan is a promising artist of Kashmir whose Sculptures have made an impressive impact at national and international art events.  From district Kupwaras Lolab vicinity Irfan did his Bachelors in Fine Arts Sculpture from Institute of Music and Fine Arts Srinagar, and completed his Masters in the same field from Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi in 2016. As a sculptor he has explored various mediums including wood, cement, stone, clay and Wire.

Among various mediums that he used for his sculptures Irfan found metal wire more suitable for the way he wanted his work to emerge.  As a reason most of his sculptures from past few years are in that medium.  He said,“ as an artist I explored different mediums for my sculptures and realized that metal wire provided me with more possibilities to express my theme as I wanted”, adding that Metal wire is ideal medium as far as my sculptures are concerned,”

Among the various themes that Irfan chooses for his sculptures political ones outnumber the others and one can say that most of his themes, in some way  are certainly related to Kashmir. The unpredictability of events, suffering and loss that valley has witnessed from past few decades can be visualized in his art works. He is well aware of his surroundings and in his sculptures he does not hesitate to bring forth harsh reality of the present world.

“My Sculptures often depict movement—the subjects are rarely still, rather in the middle of a gesture, and the lines often give the impression of movement from one part of the form to another—because I want the viewer to think of what comes after whatever is depicted, and hopefully the viewer will contribute in helping to end this crisis” Irfan Said,.

Irfan has participated in various national and international  Art events including 28th and 29th international snow sculpture championship held in Bracken Ridge Colorado USA in 2018 and 2019 respectively.  He has also many awards to his name including 88th All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) Award received in 2016.

Irfan is an artist in the making whose art has received great appreciation, with his hard work and passion he will certainly make a mark in art world.
