696 more test positive for Covid-19; death toll reaches 683

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 696 new cases of coronavirus taking the total number of infected people to 35,831.

Meanwhile, five more patients, who were tested positive for COVID-19, have died in Kashmir division on Friday, thus taking the toll of deaths in Jammu and Kashmir to 683.

An official told the news agency KNO that five patients who died today include a 76-year-old man from Mehjoor Nagar, a 65-year-old man from Tanghdar, a 62-year-old man from Sallar Pahalgam, a 60-year-old woman from Guzarbal Ganderbal and a 64-year-old man from Dalgate Srinagar.

With five more deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 683 including 626 from Kashmir division and 57 from Jammu division.

Among the 696 new positive cases, 202 were from the Jammu region, while 494 were from Kashmir, they said.

Srinagar district reported the highest number of 194 new cases, followed by 109 in Jammu district, the officials said.

Giving the district-wise breakup, they said Baramulla reported 40 cases, Pulwama 57, Budgam 59, Anantnag 31, Bandipora 30, Kupwara 25, Kulgam 11, Shopian 9, Ganderbal 38, Rajouri 8, Kathua 27, Udhampur 23, Samba 9, Ramban 1, Doda 6, Poonch 8, Reasi 5 and Kishtwar 6.

Meanwhile, 651 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 195 from Jammu division and 456 from Kashmir.

There are presently 7,781 active cases of the coronavirus disease, while 27,372 patients have recovered so far, they said.
