BSF man shoots himself dead in Kupwara
Kupwara: A Border Security Force (BSF) man shot himself dead with his service riffle in the border district of north Kashmir’s Kupwara, officials said Friday.
Officials told KNO that a BSF man, posted at a bunker at Joint Integration Centre Branwari area of Kupwara district, shot himself using his service rifle.
“The deceased was identified as Head Constable Kundan Ram. He was posted with 169 Battalion BSF,” officials said.
They said that he was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kupwara, Shriram Ambarkar told KNO that preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased BSF man was suffering from depression and hypertension.
“Anti-depressants have been recovered from the deceased’s pockets. A case has been registered and investigations have started to know the actual cause of suicide,” he said.
