Army pays tributes to slain soldier

Srinagar: Army today, paid tributes to Late Rifleman Amir Hussain Wani, who was killed on 06 August 2020 in Machhal sector.

In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen BS Raju, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the gallant soldier on behalf of the proud nation, a defense spokesperson said.

He said that Late Rifleman Amir Hussain Wani was part of patrol along the Line of Control, when he slipped and fell down into deep Nala. He was rescued by his team, provided immediate first aid and evacuated to nearest Army medical facility, however he succumbed to his injuries.

Wani was 27 years old and had joined the Army in 2012. He belonged to Village Kuthair of Shangur Tehsil, Anantnag District in Jammu & Kashmir and is survived by his wife.

The mortal remains of Rifleman Amir Hussain Wani were taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours.

“In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and well being,” said the spokesperson.
