Grenade lobbed at Police Post Bla, OGW arrested

Baramulla: Suspected militants on Monday evening lobbed a grenade towards Police Post Delina in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom, while talking to a news agency said that the grenade exploded on the road, adding that no casualty was reported in the incident.

Soon after the attack, a search operation was launched in the area to nab the attackers.

Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday evening claimed to have arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) in Karahalar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

In a separate incident Police and SOG claimed to have arrested one active OGW Tahir Ahamd Sheikh, S/O Muhammad Rafeeq Shiekh of Shitharan Khag Budgam who, police said, was affiliated with Hizbul Mujhaideen. One hand grenade, one AK47 magazine and 25x rounds of AK 47 were recovered from his possession, police added.

In this regard, a case under FIR number 107/2020 under section 7/25 I.A.Act, 18,39, ULAP Act has been registered in Police Station Baramulla.
