Srinagar : A delegation of the Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers working in Youth Service and Sports today pressed the government for salary hike and regularization.
“We Post Graduates, M.Phil. and  Ph.D degree holders.  We have been working in the department at paltry remuneration of Rs3000 per month as a result of which we are facing tremendous difficulties to run our families,” Syed Aijaz who led the delegation said.

“Whether it is Covid-19, elections or any eventuality, we are discharging our duties properly but nobody cares about our issues which have been discussed with successive administrations,” he said adding all the assurances and promises made with them turned out to be false.

Aijaz informed that there were national-level players having represented Jammu and Kashmir in national games and having brought laurels to the erstwhile state and among them. “We have given our whole life and blood to achieve the medals as sportsmen and now if we want attention of the government, we are ignored”.

Some other members informed that a high level committee was constituted by the Government for consideration of their demands but nothing concrete was done till date.

“With no insurance or any other health cover, we are on duty- day and night in Quarantine Centers,”  Mohmmad Shafi Bhat, another ReK,  said adding that the plight of their families was falling on deaf ears.

“Our families are at the verge of starvation, how can we feed our families with a meager salary of Rs 3000?”they questioned.

Demanding salary hike and regularization, the ReK’s have appealed the current administration to look into their issues with immediate effect.
