Gusty winds damage five residential houses in Baramulla Dist

Dozens of trees and electric poles uprooted

Baramulla: Gusty winds damaged five residential houses and uprooted dozens of trees and electric poles in Rafiabad and Tangmarg areas of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.

Locals said that stormy winds swept in Raram village and other adjoining villages of Tangmarg and rooftops of two residential houses were damaged and dozens of trees and electric poles were uprooted.

The residential houses which suffered extensive damaged belong to Manzoor Ahmad Lone and Zahoor Ahmad Lone of Raram Tangmarg while as dozens of trees were uprooted  and power transmission lines also suffered damage in different villages, they added.

“It was like cyclone which wreaked havoc,” said Zahoor Ahmad of Raram Tangmarg.

The stormy winds have left people without power supply  with smashed rooftops, uprooted trees, snapped electric lines and toppled poles in various villages of Rafiabad too.

Three residential houses were damaged in Tangmulla Rafiabad after gigantic deodar trees uprooted by the winds smashed them.

People has demanded immediate relief to effected people and requested authorities especially Lt Governor, Jammu and Kashmir for his personal intervention to rehabilitate the affected families.
