Baramulla: Municipal authorities on Thursday dumped bakery items worth lakhs of rupees in Watergam Rafiabad area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district as two bakers tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

“A team of police personnel along with Municipal Committee Watergam officials and health officials reached here and seized the bakery items from the shop. The items were dumped in a pit,” said locals.

An official said that the bakery items were dumped as per the protocol in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

The officials said that they had already advised bakery owners, butchers and other traders to get tested for COVID-19 before they could open their business establishments on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
