‘Zalpora Sumbal residents forced to drink contaminated water’

Filtration plant lie defunct for last six years, people suffer

Sumbal: Residents of Zalpora Sumbal are up in arms against Jal Shakti Department for allegedly supplying contaminated water from polluted River Jhelum.

Residents alleged that they are supplied contaminated and unfiltered drinking water by the Jal Shakti department from River Jehlum as the filtration plant in their area is lying defunct since 2014.

Tahir Hussain, a local resident of Zalpora Sumbal, said that from last six years dirty and unhygienic water is being supplied to them which contain a lot of mud and dirt.

“The water is not even fit for washing, let alone drinking purpose. We demand renovation of the filtration plant and proper safe drinking water,” he added.
