Searches launched to trace out bodies

Srinagar: Two sisters from Shopian were killed due to flash floods triggered by heavy rains in Chotipora area of Shopian district on Monday evening.

This is second such incident today as two minor sisters died in a similar incident in Budgam district of central Kashmir earlier.

Reports said that the two sisters who were walking on the bank of a nallah were washed away due to the flash floods and drowned in the stream.

The sisters have been identified as Khalida (25) and Sumiya (23) daughters of Ghulam Mohammad Pal.

The incident occurred late today evening, they said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Wajahat Hussain told GNS that soon after the incident a search operation was launched to retrieve the bodies of the duo. When reports last came in, the searches to find out the bodies were going on. (GNS)
