Doctors in Hajin accuse DC Bandipora of misbehavior
Went on strike, resume duties after intervention of local Admin
Srinagar: Doctors in Hajin block have gone on strike after DC Bandipora allegedly resorted to unparliamentary language with a doctor who allowed three persons to walk home after completing fourteen days of quarantine period. The, however, resumed their duties.
While talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), several medicos expressed resentment over the alleged misbehavior by DC Bandipora Shahbaz Mirza who according to doctors abused one of their colleagues Dr Nisar.
According to doctors, the medical experts and other health workers are working day and night to deal with Covid-19 but the medical staff working in block is not receiving cooperation from district administration.
They said yesterday Dr Nisar who is in-charge of quarantine centre established in Block Hajin, discharged three persons after completing fourteen days of quarantine period and other medical protocol but when it came to the notice of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora he dialed Dr Nisar and misbehaved and abused him.
Doctors said they have decided to go on strike to protest this highhandedness of officials but clarified we are ready to sacrifice our lives too for the sake of nation whenever need arises.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shabaz Mirza told KNS that the issue went “out of proportion”. He said the work of medical staff at this juncture is recognized and praiseworthy.
Meanwhile, doctors and medical staff at Community Health Centre (CHC) Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, who had gone on protest against alleged misbehavior by Deputy Commissioner (DC) with one of their colleagues, have resumed their duties on Thursday evening following an intervention by Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal and Hajin police.
Meanwhile, The Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) condemned the behaviour of the deputy commissioner and said the doctors resumed their duties only because of their conscience.
“The deputy commissioner was interfering with the professional duties of the doctors, their medical management of the patients, which is condemnable,” DAK president Dr Suhail Naik said.
The DAK president said the doctors resumed their duties after listening to their conscience as Hajin is a red zone because of the coronavirus infection.
