Adhere COVID-19 guidelines while carrying out agricultural operations: Dir Agri

SRINAGAR: Keeping in view the importance of the timely availability of critical farm inputs and restoration of agriculture activity in the valley for ensuing Kharief season, department of Agriculture, Kashmir has geared up men and machinery to ensure hassle free availability and distribution of agriculture inputs to the farmers.

This was stated by the Director Agriculture Kashmir, Altaf Aijaz Andrab during his visit to the Kitchen Garden, Lalmandi, here today.

Speaking to the officers and growers Director stressed to maintain social distance while distributing seedlings to the growers.

He urged the officers and field functionaries to strictly adhere to the guidelines laid down for the containment and management of COVI-19 pandemic while carrying out the departmental activities including distribution of available seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and seedlings with relevant package of practices, laying of seed villages and during farmers outreach programmes.

Pertinent to mention that Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has categorised manufacturing and supply of Agriculture Inputs including seeds, pesticides, fertilizers, farm machinery as essential commodity and the JK government has assigned the task of restoration of Agriculture activities to Secretary, Agriculture Production while ensuring that social distance protocol is being maintained.

The Director further said that in case of any difficulty farmers and growers of the valley can contact their respective Chief Agriculture Officer.
