Shopkeeper claims to have found ‘cure’ for coronavirus, arrested

Baramulla, March 20: A shopkeeper hailing from Tangmarg Baramulla, who claimed to have found “cure” for coronavirus in an audio clip, was arrested by police on Friday.

Police said that the shopkeeper had recorded an audio in which he claimed to have found a cure for the deadly coronavirus and circulated it on social media.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Hussain Kumar son of Ali Mohammad Kumar of Mochikhoda Tangmarg,” a police officer said.

“Appropriate legal action has been initiated against the person,” the police said in a statement, adding, “General public is requested to take advice only and only from qualified medical practioners and not to fall for quacks looking to make a quick buck and profit from the pandemic.”

“Any similar attempt or misinformation may please be brought into the notice of Tangmarg Police immediately,” reads the statement.
