DDC Kupwara inaugurates Model Fruit Village at Sogam
Distributes farm machinery, equipment among farmers
KUPWARA, MARCH 07: The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Nazir Ahmad Lone and Chief Horticulture Officer today inaugurated Model Fruit Village at Sogam Sub-division and distributed 40 Tool Harvest Ladders, 20 Sprayer Pumps, 10 Chainsaws, 25 Containers and 50 toolkits among the farmers.
The DDC said that there are 30000 hectares of horticulture land in the district and the horticulture sector is a significant contributor of economy.
He said that the government has put special emphasis on Agriculture of which Horticulture is a sub-sector by implementation of various Kissan Welfare Schemes and programmes for doubling the farmers income.
He said 76,000 farmer beneficiaries under PM Kissan Scheme have been registered for various benefits and 27000 beneficiaries are getting subsidized loan under Kissan Credit Card Scheme in the district.
On the occasion, the DDC interacted with farmers who put forth various issues and demands like establishment of Organic Composite Units in every household and Soil Testing facility in the area. The DDC heard their issues patiently and assured them for their timely resolution.
