LG reviews functioning of Cluster Universities

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 04: Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu, today reviewed the functioning of Cluster Universities of Jammu and Srinagar in a meeting here at the Civil Secretariat.

Kewal Kumar Sharma, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor; BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Arun Kumar Mehta, Financial Commissioner, Finance ; Bipul Pathak, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor; Navin Kumar Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Government, Education Department; Talat Parvez Rohella, Secretary, Higher Education; Prof. Sheikh Javid Ahmad and Prof. Anju Bhasin-Vice Chancellors of the Cluster Universities ; Dr. Yaseen Ahmed Shah, Director Colleges, Principals of Colleges under Cluster Universities and other senior officers attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Lt Governor stressed on the high importance for ensuring the provisions of basic minimum facilities pertaining to infrastructure, educational, sports and other extra-curriculum facilities available in the Cluster Universities. He directed the officers to strictly adhere to the guidelines of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and prepare strategic accordingly so as to achieve the objectives behind establishing Cluster Universities.

The Lt Governor directed the officers to take all the requisite measures for enhancing quality of education and further stressed on improving the teacher taught ratio in the said Universities. He also emphasized on preparing transparent transfer and recruitment policy and passed the directions for reviewing of Statutes of the Cluster Universities.

The chair was informed about the several aspects of the functioning of the Cluster Universities including Academic, curriculum and Administrative milestones achieved, budgetary allocations, future course of action, admissions and enrollments of students under various programmes and courses offered by the Cluster Universities. Various confronting issues of the Cluster Universities were also projected during the meeting.
