Army organizes lecture cum awareness prog on Cancer, Coronavirus

Srinagar, Feb 04: Army on Tuesday organized lecture cum awareness programme at Sharifabad.

According to a press release, the lecture cum awareness programme was organized as part of the World Cancer Day celebrated across the world to create awareness and help the affected population seek better treatment to fight the disease.

“The event was attended by strength of around 72 people across varying age groups and genders, who were informed about the various types of cancers and their prognosis as well as the treatment, a defense spokesman said. The lecture was undertaken by specialist oncologists from SKIIMS, Soura, who informed the general public about the dangers associated with tobacco and other unhealthy habits that had a severe risk to cause multiple cancers. The lecture also cleared the fog surrounding the spread of the recent corona virus and how the people could adopt basic hygienic techniques to check the spread of the disease,” reads the press release.

“The participants were given a diary that listed a set of basic measures and promoted healthy habits that should be adopted in order to achieve a healthy lifestyle. The participants appreciated the efforts and mentioned that such activities help bring about the necessary information and awareness which is inaccessible to the general public,” it said.
