2 youth trying to exfiltrate held: Police

Srinagar, Feb 01: Police on Saturday said it has arrested two young boys from south Kashmir while they were trying to exfiltrate to the other side on LoC in north Kashmir.

Police said on January 25, Army received input about the presence of two 16-years-old youth from Shopian and Pulwama districts in Uri, and their plan to exfiltrate.

“The youth sensing tight security at Uri were returning to Baramulla to exploit other routes for exfiltration. Based on the input, Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was deployed at Ganthmulla Colony (NH1A) and instructed to exercise absolute restraint so as to apprehend them without any harm,” police said in a statement today, adding that both these youth were apprehended after a bus travelling from Uri to Baramulla was intercepted.

“These youths have been counselled and have been handed over to their families with an aim to facilitate their joining in mainstream,” police said, adding that the parents of these youth were thankful to security forces for ensuring safety of their children and bringing them back to mainstream.
