FC Health directs to step up efforts for getting accreditation to Laboratories and SSHs
JAMMU, JANUARY 29: Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today directed the officials to gear up their efforts for accreditation of Drug and Food testing laboratories and the twin Super Specialty Hospitals (SSH) of Jammu and Kashmir by September 2020.
He passed on these directions, while chairing a meeting here at Civil Secretariat, held to review the accreditation process. The FC was informed that steps are afoot for getting accreditation to the laboratories and the SS hospitals on time.
The meeting was attended by Director New Medical Colleges, Dr Yashpal Sharma; Principal Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina; Commissioner Food, Vinod Sharma; Drug Controller Lokita Khajuria, Medical Superintendent SSH, Jammu, Dr Arun Sharma; Quality Manager CMC, Vellore, Lallu Joseph; Food and Drug Testing Expert, Dr Yougesh Chander, Joint Director (Planning) H&ME, Madan Lal and other officers. Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar and Medical Superintendent SSH Srinagar participated in the meeting via video-conferencing.
Regarding the accreditation process of Drug and Food testing laboratories, the FC asked the officers to keep everything in place so that they get accredited by September 2020 by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), which is a Constituent Board of Quality Council of India.
A detailed presentation was given by the Drug Controller about the staff strength and the instruments available for conducting various kinds of tests at the laboratories.
About the accreditation process of the twin SSHs of Jammu and Srinagar, the FC asked for filling the gaps, if any, for meeting the patient safety standards. He directed the officers to put in their best to get entry level certification for both the hospitals from National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).
He directed the officers to designate a quality manager for each hospital and prepare a well defined action plan for the accreditation process. As part of the action plan, 40 people from each hospital will be identified and trained for different services.

Theme song for skill dev programme released
JAMMU, JANUARY 29: Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today chaired the maiden meeting of the apex committee of Jammu Kashmir’s flagship youth skill development scheme- HIMAYAT.
The meeting was held to discuss various projects being undertaken under the scheme. On the occasion, a theme song was also released highlighting the working and achievements of HIMAYAT scheme in Jammu and Kashmir. It was informed that the theme song would be used to disseminate information about the scheme through electronic media for attracting the youth.
HIMAYAT is a special initiative under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya- Grameen Kaushalya Yojana for skill development of rural and urban youth of Jammu and Kashmir and being implemented through private agencies.
A detailed presentation was also given in the meeting, highlighting the achievements of the HIMAYAT scheme, and the challenges being faced in its implementation.
The FC health directed the authorities to thoroughly check the credentials of the Programme Implementing Agencies before approving the projects. He said that the PIAs should be competent enough and have experience in the relevant field.
