Army pays tributes to slain soldier

Srinagar: Army today paid tributes to Late Sepoy Rambir who was killed during Counter Terrorist Operation in Pandoshan village of Shopian District on 02 August 2019.

A defense spokesman said that in a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the martyr.

Late Sepoy Rambir sustained a bullet injury as part of a team in the Counter Terrorist Operation in Pandoshan village of Shopian District of South Kashmir. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, the spokesman said.

Late Sepoy Rambir, was 24 years old and had joined the Army in 2014. He belonged to village Hulwana of Chhata tehsil of Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife and two sons.

“The mortal remains of the martyr were taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours,” said the spokesman.
