Army pays tributes to slain soldier

Srinagar, 28 July 2019.     Army today paid a befitting tribute to Late Lance Naik Rajinder Singh who made the supreme sacrifice on the Line of Control while foiling an infiltration bid, a defense spokesman said in a statement issued today.

“In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the martyr,” said the spokesman.

The slain soldier was deployed along the Line of Control in Machhil sector, when during an infiltration bid by militants he was hit by a bullet in the ensuing firefight. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

Singh, was 26 years old and had joined the Army in 2014. He belonged to Village Pabbarali Kalan of District Gurdaspur, Punjab and is survived by his wife and a son.

The mortal remains of the martyr were taken for last rites to his native place.
