Three timber smugglers arrested in Rafiabad forests: Police

Baramulla, Jul 24: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three timber smugglers and seized illicit timber in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A police official said that acting on specific information; a police party headed by SDPO Rafiabad and SHO Police Station Panza arrested three notorious timber smugglers in the forest area of Rafiabad. Te official identified the smugglers as Mushtaq Ahmed Kumar aka Sabha son of Siobhan Kumar, Mohammad Yousef Kumar son of Sonallah Kumar and Ghulam Hassan Khan son of Sayen Khan, all residents of Takiya Panzla.

“They have been shifted to Police Station Panzla,” said the police officer.

“Two logs of illicit timber from the spot,” he said.

“Police has registered a case FIR No. 54/2019 under relevant sections & initiated investigation in the matter,” he added.
