Pulwama, July 11: A Sub-centre of health department located in Mitrigam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is functioning from a single room and the center, according to the locals, lacks basic facilities.

The locals said that the centre caters to the medial needs of five villages with a population of over five thousand people. “The centre is being run from a single room of a residential house from last 15 years and authorities have failed to construct a building for the same,” they added.

An official on condition of anonymity said that there is only a single room available for the sub-centre and the same is being used for all purposes.

The owner of the residential house told Kashmir Images that they receive an amount of 250 rupees per month as rent from the concerned authorities.

When contacted Block Medical Officer Rajpora, Dr Javaid Ahmad, said: “Let locals come to my office and help us identify the land for the construction of building.”
