UVPPF demands clearance of SRO 43 cases
Srinagar, July 4: Union of Victims Police Personal Families (UVPPF) today threatened to take legal action against the state government in case pending SRO 43 cases of the next of kin of policemen who died of natural causes during active duty are not cleared forthwith.
Addressing press conference at Kashmir Press Club here, the union members vowed to continue their struggle until the state government clear all cases pending at the Civil Secretariat.
They said the Governor Administration must take note of the problems they have been facing after the death of their parents.
“Kashmiri youth are accused of being stone pelters, now I would like to know what state government has done for our welfare, wasn’t our parents part of police family’ if yes then why are we being deprived of our rights, if no then our cases should be rejected,” said Pavandeep Singh son of a deceased policeman.
He alleged that the government itself provokes Kashmiri youth for stone pelting given its non-serious approach to rehabilitate educated unemployed youth.
Singh said on one hand the incumbent Governor, Satyapal Malik assures them that their issues will be addressed on priority while on the other States Chief Secretary acts as a stumbling block.
“When we last met the Governor, he assured us that the issue will be addressed on priority and he even went on to say that he will go to any extent for the policemen who died of natural death or were killed during duty, but it is unfortunate that Chief Secretary whom we apprised of our issues is taking things for granted,” he said adding we will move to court in case the Chief Secretary continue to ignore us.
Mudasir Hakeem a youth from south Kashmir’s Anantnag said SRO 43 was introduced by the then Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti in 2017, however the present dispensation has not yet implemented it on the ground.
“It’s our mothers who feed us ever since our fathers died, what if our ailing mothers die or fell ill, who will take care of us. Isn’t this injustice with the families of police personal who died in the line of duty? We demand that our cases must be cleared at earliest,” said Hakeem.
He said only 48 SRO 43 cases have been cleared so far by the state government while rest of the youth continue to run from the pillar to post.
