Directs for early redressal of grievances

LEH, JUNE 10: To get first-hand information regarding public grievances and to review the developmental works being carried out in Durbuk Sub Division, the Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, Saugat Biswas chaired a Public Durbar at Tangtse. The Durbar was attended by  Councillor Durbuk, block level officers, Sarpanches, Nambarders, and locals in large numbers.

The Div Com listened to peoples grievances and demands of their concerned areas. These demands include relaxation in Border Area Development Programme (BADP) norms by inclusion of entire Durbuk Sub Division under BADP schemes, connecting Durbuk with Northern Grid, improvement of school and hostel infrastructure, increase in the duration of power supply, providing drinking water facilities, skill development programmes for youth, up-gradation of PHC Tangtse, posting of dental surgeon and gynecologist at Tangtse & Chushul health centres, the opening of new trekking routes, improvement in mobile communication coverage, etc.

Biswas after giving patience hearing to the grievances and demands projected by the people, discussed them thoroughly with the block officers and ensured to take up other matters with concern departments for implementation at earliest.

After the public Durbar, Divisional Commissioner also listened to the issues faced by Block officers. Highlighting the importance of strengthening school education infrastructure in the region, he sought detail of 12th class pass out students of the last three years and their present status in order to get a clearer picture of dropouts.

Divisional Commissioner Ladakh instructed the block officers to redress public issues on top priority at earliest in their respective areas.
