Dir Horticulture reviews functioning of horti-sector in Valley

SRINAGAR, MAY 29: Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat today held a meeting to review the functioning of the Horticulture sector in Kashmir.

Joint Director Horticulture Kashmir, Deputy Director Central and Chief Horticulture Officer of Kashmir valley as well as Farm Manager, ACHD Rajbagh/Zainapora, Horticulture Information & Publication Officer& Analyst, SALAL were present in the meeting.

During the meeting, all the Chief Horticulture Officers (CHO) were directed to identify the small and marginal farmers to be covered under high-density plantation programme in the next five years.

The issue regarding Farmers Interest Group to establish CA store(s) on a cooperative basis was discussed in the meeting and it was impressed upon Chief Horticulture Officer- Anantnag, Shopian, Kulgam, Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora to make a group of farmers and also register such groups under the Society Act.

All Chief Horticulture Officers were directed to provide the list of orchardists uploaded on the portal under PM-Kissan.

CHOs were impressed to conduct training/awareness at Block/tehsil levels so that farming community is provided technical know-how in the field of Horticulture.

CHOs were directed to ensure frequent irrigation to rootstock in departmental nurseries. Farm Manager Rajbagh was also directed to ensure irrigation and support system to high-density plants planted in front of Directorate of Horticulture.

Director further directed all the concerned to address the issues of the growers raised by the orchardists in already createdWhatsApp groups in respective Districts.
