Sopore, May 16: Daily-rated sweepers of Municipal Council (MC) Sopore on Thursday staged a protest demonstration as they demanded job regularization.

According to reports, the sweepers, who are on strike from last six days, staged a protest at Iqbal Market Sopore and marched towards MC office to submit their memorandum with its executive officer.

Speaking to Kashmir Images, the protesters said that district administration has failed to resolve their long pending issue of job regularization. “All seventy-three sweepers of MC Sopore are observing strike from last six days over non-regularization of their jobs and release of GP Fund in favour of other sweepers who were regularized in 2009,” they added.

When contacted President MC Sopore, Abdul Ahad Malla, assured that the issue will be resolved very soon. “I will take up the issue with Governor and other officers,” he added.
