Sopore family appeals for release of their ‘ailing’ member arrested by Delhi police

Sopore, May 14: The family members of alleged Jaish-e-Mohammad militant, Abdul Majeed Baba a resident of Magraypora village of Sopore, have appealed for his release, who according to them is a “heart patient and cannot survive in the jail”.

“Delhi police along with Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested my brother from Soura Medical Institute on last Saturday evening. He is suffering from a heart ailment and cannot survive in the jail,” said Abdul Hamid.

“He was arrested by Delhi police in 2007 along with two other Kashmiri and one Pakistani national. My brother was released in 2013 following which he was running a business firm at Fruit Mandi Sopore,” added Hamid.

Hamid further said that Baba was currently undergoing treatment at Soura Medical Institute Srinagar as doctors have advised him “Coronary artery bypass grafting CABG/MV stunt”. “My brother and nephew have travelled to Delhi for making a legal appeal for his release on medical grounds.”
