Srinagar: Senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat has expressed dismay over the inability of Health Department to meet the demand of providing dialysis facility at district and sub-district hospitals.

Bhat said SDH Bandipore offers an example of abysmal failure of the department where funds were made available for the machines long before and reportedly machines lie unused at the hospital.

He said it is known fact that patients facing nephrology problems are on rise in Kashmir and need for dialysis facility at shorter distances is an imperative for any responsible health caring system.

Bhat said diabetic patients from rural areas, especially from backward belts like Bandipore are denied easily accessible and financially tolerable treatment facilities.

“There are instances where patients have died without reaching hospitals at distance or bear with pain and anxiety for want of required finances.”

Bhat has urged Governor administration to accord priority to providing such facilities in rural areas at easily accessible places, more importantly at district and sub district hospitals.

He said likewise swell in number of cancer patients and inadequate capacity to accommodate the rush at city centers needs to be taken into account for redressal.
