Trade across LoC continues to remain suspended

Baramulla: After remaining suspended for eight weeks, Karvan-e-Aman bus service, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, resumed on Monday.

Officials said that the weekly bus with three PaK residents left Srinagar this morning for Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector, to cross over to PaK.

The Karwa-e-Aman bus service was suspended due to the damaged Kaman Aman Setu Bridge which connects two parts of Kashmir across LoC.

Pertinent to mention that the cross-LoC bus service which was started on April 7, 2005, has helped thousands of families to meet each other after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel for the state subjects from both sides after acquiring special travel permits.

Meanwhile, cross- LoC trade continues to remain suspended since April 18 after the Union Home Ministry had issued an order banning trade activities.
