Srinagar, April, 16: Assuring people to end the vicious cycle of violence and large scale arrests if Peoples Conference emerges victorious in Parliamentary and Assembly elections, Senior Vice President of the party Abdul GaniVakil said that only PC can safeguard the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a day long workers’ convention in Nowpora Kalan, Rafiabad, Vakil said, “If people vote PC to power in Parliamentary and Assembly elections, we will ensure that the military approach to Kashmir imbroglio is ended thereby giving reconciliation a chance. The vicious cycle of death and destruction and large scale arrests and harassment would become a thing of past and we will impress upon the central Government to start a meaningful dialogue process on Kashmir to end this morass”.

Reiterating the promise to safeguard the special status of state Vakil further asserted that no stone would be left unturned to restore the special status in its original form.

“Peoples Conference is the only party that has the will, guts and potential to safeguard Article 370 and 35-A and we will not hesitate to sacrifice to undo the erosions”, he added.

Lambasting NC and PDP for shedding crocodile tears on the sensitive issue of special status enjoyed by the state, Vakil said that NC and PDP while in power facilitated the erosion of Article 370 and now out of power are trying to project themselves as the only warriors who can safeguard the special status.

Addressing the convention senior leader Khurshid Ahmad Khan said that NC is spreading lies against PC while the reality is that NC has all along been the natural ally of BJP. He alleged that Omar Abdullah took his political birth in BJP while he was a junior minister in BJP government between 1999-2002 and was advocating BJP agenda on Kashmir throughout the globe.

Local leader Advocate Javaid Masoodi and youth leader Umar Rahid also addressed the convention.
