3 teachers suspended for attending political rallies

Kupwara, Apr 07: Three teachers, including district president EJAC, were suspended after they allegedly participated in political rallies of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Conference (PC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara placed the three officials of Education department under suspension after they were allegedly found involved in violating the model code of conduct.

Those placed under suspension include Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Fayaz Mir (EJAC district president Kupwara); a lecturer at Higher Secondary School Hatmullah; Zaheer Ahmad Mirchal, a teacher at Government Higher Secondary School Nawagabra Karnah; and Ali Gowhar Khan, Master Government High School Gundishart, Karnah.

An order issued by the DEO read: “The MCC teams confirm the participation of the teachers in political gatherings in violation of model code of conduct.”

“The violation of model code of conduct by any government employee is a matter of serious concern as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and deserves punitive action within the purview of guidelines laid down in this regard,” the order further reads.
