Drug peddler arrested in Sopore: Police

Sopore, March 25: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore.

A police spokesman said: “One person was arrested during a checkpoint at Krankshivan Sopore following an action against those involved in drug peddling in North Kashmir. One person identified as Aamir Akbar Mir son of Mohammad Akbar Mir resident of Mumkak Sopore arrested for the drug offences has been taken to Police Station Tarzoo where he remains in custody.”

“Officers at the checkpoint have seized 50 bottles of Maxcoff, Codeine P Coff-T and Codeine Apdyl-T from his possession. Case FIR No 18/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tarzoo,” the spokesman said.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” the spokesman added.
